What is the Work Exchange Program at Izus Place?

The Work Exchange program at Izus Place offers a unique opportunity for travelers seeking a deeper experience than just sun and surf. We’re more than a hostel or a restaurant – we’re a community hub for Jewish life in Jaco. Through this program, we invite passionate, responsible individuals to join us as volunteers, contribute their time, and receive accommodations and meals in return.

Whether you’re backpacking through Latin America, taking a sabbatical, or seeking a cultural immersion, this is the perfect setting for purpose-driven travel.

What You’ll Do: Volunteer Roles

Participants are asked to commit to 30 hours of work per week (not including Shabbat). Tasks are diverse, allowing you to explore your strengths and passions:

• Reception & Guest Relations
  Help us welcome guests, assist travelers, and represent the warm spirit of Izus Place.

• Restaurant Support at Sabress
  Be part of our Israeli-Mediterranean restaurant team – assist in service, prep, or cleaning, depending on your experience.

• Social Media & Content Creation
  Help us grow online! If you’re into photography, video, Instagram, or storytelling, this is your moment.

You will never work on Shabbat – that time is reserved for rest, reflection, and powerful community meals.

What You’ll Receive: Accommodation & Meals

In exchange for your time and energy, we provide:

• A bed in a shared room, with a private shower and air conditioning

• One daily meal at our on-site restaurant, Sabress

• Shabbat dinners and lunches – a communal and spiritual highlight of the week

Our space is vibrant, clean, and infused with Jewish soul. Whether you’re here for a month or more, you’ll feel at home in our warm, intentional atmosphere.

Program Requirements

• Must stay for at least 1 month

• Minimum commitment of 30 hours/week

• No work on Shabbat

• English required (basic Hebrew or Spanish is a bonus)

• Open heart and willingness to serve others
